Thank you for your interest in becoming an American Heart Association Instructor. AHA prides itself in offering the finest training with high quality control standards. >>>Action CPR is an authorized American Heart Association Training Center offering community courses and instructor training. We strictly follow AHA guidelines and use of training materials as outlined by AHA. Use of these materials in courses does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Fees charged for the instructor course or other courses are not revenue generated for the Association.

1.    To begin you must have current provider cards in BLS Healthcare Provider and Heartsaver First Aid/CPR.  Even with a current card we require you to attend the classes in our office at no additional cost, prior to the Instructor Course.
2.  The next step is completing the Core Instructor Course (CIC) before the classroom portion. This is the "do at home" portion of the training and takes about ten hours. It's on an interactive CD requiring either:

                OR
Macintosh: PowerPC, iBook, G3 or higher  MAC OS 9.1 and higher
3.  Attending the Instructor Training course at Action CPR's facility is next. This is about eight hours of classroom time focusing on “hands on” practice of teaching, remediation and other critical skills.
4.  The final step is being monitored while you teach.  This must be done within 90 days of Instructor training. This requires you to have the equipment and materials listed below before being monitored. You must also schedule time to observe one more class taught in our office, before being monitored. All of this training is done to insure Instructor Candidates are prepared to teach, however depending on the instructor, remediation of teaching skills at times may be needed. If more than one monitoring session is necessary, your option is to teach at our office at no additional cost. If you wish to have the monitoring done at your location, there is a fee of  $50.00.
